We currently have an opening for a Mechanical Engineer in our Vancouver or Victoria office. We serve a wide range of client sectors across Western Canada with projects ranging from small-scale studies to large and complex multi-disciplinary design and construction assignments. Our Infrastructure practice is growing and we’re looking for skilled, motivated and process mechanical design-focused individuals to join our team. Reporting to the Conveyance Group Manager, your duties will include leading the mechanical design of water, storm, and sanitary pump stations as well as valve chambers, pressure control facilities and energy recovery facilities. Our team also undertakes energy efficiency studies and condition assessments of existing pumping stations, and the design of upgrades to these facilities. Whilst this role is intended to be primarily technical, there is significant opportunity to support the team’s business development, project, and construction management activities. Our team works closely with our First Nations Infrastructure teams, as well as the Water Resources, Water, Facilities and Transportation divisions. It is anticipated that the successful applicant for this role will also collaborate with these teams. Your responsibilities may include the following: • Prepare and author studies and design reports, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents • Leading the design of mechanical systems, including hydraulic analysis of piping and pumping systems, selection of equipment (valves, piping, pumps, tanks, screens, etc.), and preparation of design calculations • Coordinating the work of multidisciplined teams through the design development phase • Lead the preparation of schematic drawings, layouts, and P&IDs working in a team of engineers, technologists, 3D modellers and CAD technicians • Prepare specifications, contract documents and construction documentation • Undertaking Engineer of Record field review of projects in construction • Take ownership of overall project execution; maintain focus on quality, safety and client service
What you bring to the table:
• Undergraduate or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or integrated engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution. • Registered as a Professional Engineer with EGBC, or eligible for registration • 10+ years of progressive experience, ideally in the municipal consulting field • Proficient with spoken and written English and are able to author and review memos and reports. • A valid BC driver's license • You are a committed and self-motivated team player • You have demonstrated ability to work independently and to undertake self-directed learning, • You are enthusiastic to build internal relationships throughout Associated Engineering’s network of engineering professionals • You are passionate about hydraulics, pumping and piping systems, and understand the importance of sustainability in design and energy efficiency resulting from system optimization. • You are able to look beyond your mechanical engineering specialty to find synergies with other disciplines to understand cross-disciplinary needs for a successful project completion. • You are proficient with common computer tools such as MS Word and MS Excel, as well as pdf editing software. • You are familiar with AutoCAD and 3D design tools such as SketchUp, Revit and Plant 3D. Familiarity with hydraulic design tools would also be an asset.

The salary range for this position is $83,200.00 to $135,200.00 and is commensurate with experience relative to this position.
