We are currently searching for a Safety Coordinator in our Calgary office.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will work with our Safety Representatives, Managers, and staff in the office and on worksites. This position will give you the opportunity to provide leadership and administrative support to promote and manage the health and safety program. You will provide leadership to ensure Associated’s compliance with municipal, provincial, and federal acts and regulations.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Facilitating employee compliance with Associated’s safety rules, policies, safe work practices, safe work procedures, and codes of practice.
• Assisting in the identification, evaluation, control, and monitoring of safety hazards in the workplace through preparation of hazard assessments, safety plans, policies, procedures, and inspections.
• Attending health and safety committee, staff, and group meetings to provide health and safety information, guidance, and advice.
• Assessing subcontractor safety plans, procedures, and practices to evaluate compliance with safety standards and regulations and to ensure adequate controls are in place.
• Supporting strategies that drive safety performance and being proactive to ensure continuous improvement of the health and safety program.
• Ensuring that suitable personal protective equipment and other safety equipment is available and maintained in good condition.
• Conducting regular formal office inspections; traveling to other offices and worksites occasionally to carry out formal inspections and providing onsite support when necessary.
• Updating safety bulletins throughout the offices, conducting safety meetings, and sending safety communications on a regular basis.
• Conducting new employee safety orientations and ensuring that all personnel receive appropriate ongoing support and safety training.
• Assisting with updating the Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual as required.
• Participating in annual COR audits and ongoing reviews of program HSE documentation.
• Conducting incident and near miss investigations, identifying root causes, and determining methods to prevent reoccurrences.
